Device List
Every device where you sign in to 12scribe is registered and appears in your device list. Open the Profile tab and tap Devices to see all registered devices. Each entry shows the device name (for example, "iPhone 15 Pro" or "iPad Air"), the operating system version, and the date it was last used.
The Last Used timestamp updates every time you open the app on that device. This helps you identify devices you no longer use -- if a device has not been active for several months, it is a good candidate for removal.
Device limits depend on your plan:
- Free plan -- 1 device maximum. Only the device you are currently using is registered.
- Pro plan -- up to 3 devices. You can access your recordings and cloud-synced data from your iPhone, iPad, and a second iPhone or iPad simultaneously.
Primary Device
One of your registered devices is marked as the primary device. The primary device is indicated with a star icon in the device list. By default, the first device you sign in on becomes the primary.
The primary device has a special rule: it cannot be removed from the device list. This prevents you from accidentally locking yourself out of your account. If you want to change which device is primary, tap the device you want to promote and select Set as Primary.
Your primary device is also the one that receives push notifications by default when other devices trigger sync events or transcription completions.
Adding a New Device
To add a new device, simply sign in with your Apple ID or email on the new device. The device is registered automatically when you complete the sign-in flow.
If you are on the Free plan and try to sign in on a second device, the app will prompt you to either remove the existing device or upgrade to Pro. You cannot have two active devices on the Free plan.
If you are on the Pro plan and already have 3 registered devices, the app shows the device list and asks you to remove one before the new device can be added. The removal and registration happen in one step -- tap the device to remove, confirm, and the new device takes its place.
Removing Old Devices
To remove a device, open Profile, tap Devices, swipe left on the device you want to remove, and tap Delete. Alternatively, tap the device and select Remove Device from the detail screen.
When you remove a device:
- That device can no longer sync data with your account
- Local recordings on the removed device are not deleted -- they remain on the device but are no longer linked to your cloud account
- A slot is freed for a new device to be registered
- The removed device can be re-added later by signing in again (assuming a slot is available)
You cannot remove the primary device. If you need to remove it, first set another device as primary, then remove the old one.
